Chinese Privately-Owned Enterprises (POEs) have played, and will continue to play, a critical role in executing the country’s globalisation agenda. However, they have been overlooked in this important aspect. This article reviews the current status of POEs’ efforts of going global, and the unique advantages they have. POEs and SOEs should go hand in hand to globalize. Governments, industry associations and POEs themselves should work together in creating a favorable environment to further encourage POEs to play on the global stage.
